Apartment L'amore or Lovers' Nest is a private apartment with breathtaking views over The Poets' Gulf, Palmaria Island and St. Peter’s Church in Portovenere.
The apartment is located in an area of Portovenere called "Il Cavo", which is about 10 minutes walk from the village centre. There is a frequent shuttle bus service to the village centre for those who do not want to walk. The apartment can be reached both by steps or by a lift that serves all the other apartments in the complex, built on a cliff perched on the sea. Even though there are several apartments in this complex, the construction of these buildings allows them to keep their privacy. The house is surrounded by luxuriant Mediterranean trees and flowers, so that even approaching the apartment is a wonderful experience.
Once you reach the apartment, you enter a long corridor which is the perfect location to store all the things you usually carry from the beach. Then you are greeted with a nice terrace with barbeque and a small outdoor kitchen. On the terrace you find also a dining table, a small open air shower and a closed cabinet for the laundry with washing machine.
From the terrace, that runs around the apartment and gives you a wonderful panoramic view, you enter the sitting room and small dining room with large windows opening on to the panoramic view - a truly breath taking scene.
The apartment has also a small kitchen, 1 master bedroom and a small bedroom with a bunk bed and a bathroom. Both the rooms have direct, independent access to the bathroom.
There is a warm parquet on the floor and electric heating for the winter season.
From the house you can reach the sea going down some steps. There you can find a small dock from were you can dive or depart with a hired boat (that’s the best!). Upon request boat hiring rates or escorted boat tours are available.
The owner has nicely furbished the property with good taste. The property is ideal for couples - the perfect romantic hideaway - and although it sleeps 4 is more suited to a couple.
The property has a private fenced-in parking spot (hard to find in Portovenere).
Parking - extra cost may be applicable for permit.
We would grade this property as a 3*superior for it's furnishings but have awareded it with 4 * grading due to it's locations, views and overall impression.

Portovenere is a beautiful harbour with many fantastic fish restaurants and bars with sea views. Alternatively the cobbled streets are lined with tiny osterias and gift shops. It is easy to explore the Cinque Terre region from here by private water taxi or public boats which leave from the harbour regularly.
From the house you can either walk down the hill to the beaches or take shuttle buses departing a few meters from the parking area anyway going down the hill it is not a big deal; it is a pleasant walk along the road you may consider to take the shuttle bus on going back home after the day at the beach. Bus tickets can be bought locally. The first beach is about 800 mtrs with swimming pools and terrace equipped with sunbeds and a small public beach.
Walking along the promenade you find 2 other beaches: one belonging to the royal hotel (you can pay for access + sunbeds, umbrellas etc) and then a public one that is managed by the city hall and you can rent sun beds and umbrellas. From Portovenere pier there is a boat which departs that can take you to the Palmaria island or to lerici for it's famous bay.
