There are approximately 90 steps that lead from the main coastal road up to the entrance of the property, although it is possible for a taxi to arrive at the doorstep. From the villa, guests can reach the centre of Positano, on foot, in 10 minutes and the beach in 15 minutes - a wonderful walk through the narrow windy streets which are lined with shops selling the famous Positano linen fashions, handmade leather sandals and high fashion accessories.
This beautiful historic building was completely restored in late 2006. During the intense period of rennovation frescoes dating back as far as 1715 were discovered and the patient work of master craftsmend patient restored the apartment to its ancient splendour, bringing to light the original frescoes, which were presumed to be lost forever. The overall feel of the apartment is regal and luxurious.
Apartment Li Galli is a luxury property which boasts two good sized bedrooms and two bathrooms with original hand made ceramic tile floors from Pompei, marble bath tubs and the latest in high tech amenities.
One of the many fantastic features of the apartment are the magnificent 18th Century doors which are decorated with delicate Arabesques and the frescoes showing country scenes of the time seem to take us back through the ages. The apartment is a true work of historic art but is still equipped with all modern comforts which have been discreetly placed so as not to disturb the regal atmosphere.
From the precious tiles in original decorated ceramic from the 1700s with flowery patterns and religious subjects, to the old neoclassical bathtub made from a single marble block, to the old fireplace, which is exclusively ornamental: everything blends in perfectly to create a stunning location for you to spend your stay in famous Positano.
The mix between Moroccan classical and modern Italian motifs resonate throughout, immediately from the apartments entrance through a large set of wooden double doors into the living room offering 15 foot high ceilings. In fact, the entire apartment boasts tall ceilings throughout and an open-air format that guarantees lots of air, cool breezes, and natural sunlight - air-conditioning is still provided to ensure ultimate comfort for our guests.
The living room, with its hand made, terracotta ceramic tile floors, boasts a Cleopatra style daybed and day chair and a 45 inch flat screen high definition TV (some international channels included in the cable package).
The apatment is arranged so that he living room flows from one side to the beautifully styled external terrace to a master bedroom straight ahead or to the large kitchen and dining room to its left.
The kitchen, which also has 17 foot ceilings, has a beautiful ceramic tile floor, marble showpiece fireplace, cast-iron dining room table for 6, five range stovetop, microwave, large refrigerator and freezer, dishwasher, American coffee pot and a closet where you will find the 6 disk CD player with stereo and volume control for each room of the apartment. There is also an electronic safe for guests use.
The first bedroom, located next to the kitchen, boasts a double Baldachin bed (mattress: 180 x 200 cm) with a large antique dresser, wardrobe, 2 antique clothing chests and a marvelous en-suite bathroom with a large ceramic shower and marble sink.
The second bedroom is situated between the first bedroom and the terrace and is very detailed with frescoes surrounding the top trim of the walls, a double bed (mattress: 180 x 200 cm), a large, built-in closet, an antique dresser and several bedside lamp tables. This bedroom enjoys direct access out onto the panoramic terrace. The second bedroom also enjoys its own bathroom (not en-suite) located next to the kitchen with a spectacular, marble bathtub and separate toilet and bidet area.
One of the most charming features of this exquisite apartment is the external terrace which is designed with handmade ceramic tiles - which the area is famous for - both on the floors and on the sides of the terrace walls. The beautiful design of the terrace adds to the already magnificent view of Positano and the turquiose sea. The terrace is equipped with a round ceramic countered tabletop dining table with four cast iron chairs which compliment the design of the terrace perfectly. The terrace is also equipped with four chaise lounges chairs for sunbathing or relaxing, a small marble sink, an external shower, and an ancillary kitchen unit with two small burners and a very small table grill to enable guests to make the most of outdoor living. The terrace enjoys wonderful views of both Positano and the Mediterranean and in the morning as the sun rises the view is almost surreal.
