The writer Andrè Gide wrote that: "Ravello is
nearer to the sky than it is to the shore".
This picturesque hilltop town is situated in a more elevated
position than the other pearls of the Amalfi Coast meaning it
boasts unrivalled breathtaking views of the beautiful bay and
rugged coastline. This peaceful haven with its’ romantic
villas, a cathedral with 12th century bronze doors and glorious
gardens is a cool and welcoming retreat from the busy coastal
towns below.
In the 11th century Wagner was inspired by the Villa Rufolo
in Ravello to compose ‘Parsifal’ which is why Ravello
is now home to the Wagner summer music festival.
