A truly special place.....Ideally situated in a peaceful location, surrounded by chestnut trees yet Only 18 km from Lucca, and 30 minutes from Versilia (Tuscan coastline) and Pisa airport. Borgo Castano is a converted 17th century village, steeped in history where Puccini spent many evenings composing his music! Large swimming pool, tennis court, horse-riding, mountain biking, canoeing, massage and beauty treatments, and a fantastic local restaurant on site.

Borgo Castano offers suites, villas and self-catering accommodation in historic, stone built properties which line the narrow cobbled streets and are furnished with antiques. Tasteful, comfortable accommodation furnished in a Tuscan country style they offer modern amenities such as; central heating to ADSL Wi-Fi and ultramodern bathrooms, many with hydro massage.

The surrounding countryside has a huge variety to offer: just a few minutes away are medieval villages, numerous churches, ancient bridges, local museums (many with free entry), fortifications, castles, archaeological sites, villas, historic spas, parks, nature reserves, the famous marble quarries and impressive caves. The region has much to interest lovers of nature, sport, good food, good wine, art, architecture and antiques.

Borgo Castano has 28 properties of varying size, from rooms sleeping 2 to a private villa sleeping 10. The houses have all been named after the people who last lived there, and often the interior still contains paintings done by local artists – for example in the Casa del Pittore.

This description is for Villa Giosy sleeping 10. 3 floors, sleeps 8+2
This former manor-house has a beautiful view of the countryside and has kept most of it’s original fixtures and fitting which have been fully restored. The ground floor is composed of the kitchen, with working fireplace and wood burning oven, an original stone sink, brazier and a bathroom with shower. The antique stone stairway, leads to the first floor with living room, two double bedrooms and a bathroom with tub. The attic is comprised of a large hall, a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a third bathroom with tub.

Options / Extras

Details:

Self-catering is available in the high season for minimum periods of one week only, from Saturday to Saturday. It includes a welcome pack, all water, gas, electricity and heating, weekly change of sheets and towels and final cleaning.

Extra bed 50 euros per week;
Cot on request (at time of booking) 50 euros per week;
Pets: on request (at time of booking) 50 euros per week;
Important: the crockery, refrigerator and kitchen area must be left perfectly clean on departure, otherwise a further charge of 30 euros will be payable.

The hotel option is available throughout the year for minimum periods of two nights only and includes daily buffet breakfast, mid-week linen change, toiletries pack and welcome mineral water. Length of stay optional, subject to availability, including during public holidays (packages on request).

Each house is a discovery in that it is completely original and different from all the others, from the mezzanine overlooking the swimming pool (as in the Casa della Palma) to the Granduca suite, with its unforgettable view over the valley. The interiors are welcoming and equipped with all modern comforts, such as hydromassage showers and jacuzzi baths, or the houses in the countryside, ten villas and apartments in houses not far from the village, with gardens set among olive trees and vines
