Charming apartment in the very heart of Corniglia, the third village of the Cinqueterre.
Staying in Corniglia means getting to know the area of the Cinqueterre from a unique point of view. First of all it is the middle village of the five villages and the village layout is pretty different from the others: as you reach it by train you discover that the station is down on the sea level but the residential area is on top, perched on a rocky cape, in the past quite inaccessible by the sea.
Visitors can reach it by going up the “Lardarina” a long series of steps, 375 to be precise, divided into 33 flights, about one hundred meters above the sea level. But those who do not fancy the walk, do not worry, one can reach the village by road using a frequent shuttle service provided by the Cinque Terre National Park. The views on the way up, and indeed once you reach the top, are simply breath taking!
This unique apartment is located on the second floor of a typical tower house - now split into apartments - the owners have a passion for interior design and a faultless attention to detail. The apartments are situated in the upper ancient part of the village (borgo).
The owners take great pride in the presentation of these apartments and it is the personal touches they have put to the apartments which make them truly enchanting.
Upon entering the property there is a spacious dining room and fully equipped kitchen. A big brick stone arch separates the dining room from the rest of the apartment, where there two double bedrooms and a bathroom. Both of the bedrooms have a balcony with view on the garden underneath, the sea and the typical vineyard hills of the Cinqueterre.
There is a shared terraced garden where guests can enjoy the view whilst sharing a delicious home made breakfast (at an additional cost) or soak up the summer sun. The attention to detail continues out into the garden where the owners have decorated every tree and available space with trinkets or ornaments creating a truly magical feel.
Liguria offers over 200 miles of picturesque coastline, which stretches form the French border over across the boundary with Tuscany. Formerly a haven of Pirates, who would shelter their ships amongst the narrow rocky inlets, Liguria has since become a mecca, not only for the rich and famous, but also for those looking for a relaxing, sun drenched beach holiday in Italy. The deep-water ports that once held Pirate vessels now hold deluxe yachts from all over the world.
Apartments can be reached from the village main square (where shuttle bus from train station arrives) by walking down a path for about 50 meters.
